Taking Care of Business

Hi Everyone,

These have been busy days for me, and probably for you too. When aren’t we all busy with jobs, kids for those of us who have them, dentists, vets, cars that break down, things we need to get done? Somehow I always seem to be running in ten directions, and I do it in two cities. My life in Paris is more playtime for me, seeing friends, going out to lunch and dinner, going to art shows and galleries and art fairs, and just enjoying the beauty of Paris, which was once home to me, and now is again. And San Francisco is my work city, where I put on jeans and old sweaters, sit at my typewriter for 20 hours at a time and get things done. Repairs, decisions, meetings with lawyers and accountants, spending time with my kids who live there, and of course the dentist and ‘maintenance appointments’ which are never fun. I haven’t balanced my life very well, because most of the hard stuff is in San Francisco, but I usually leave with a feeling of accomplishment, having gone down a list of things I have to do. And then back to Paris to relax and play. I’m always amazed by how much there is to do, when you start down that ‘to do’ list. And the endless decisions of what to spend your money on (never the fun things like new shoes—but a new transmission for a twenty year old car I refuse to give up, new kitchen counters, some sick trees that need to be worked on, and I recently had to have some serious work done on some rusty beams. Do you notice too how it’s always the most un-fun stuff that eats up money in large chunks, and always just when you thought you had things squared away? I guess that’s Murphy’s Law or something. And bills like that always come in clumps, like grapes.

So I’m back in San Francisco, taking care of business, doing house repairs, catching up on work and getting ready to start a new book next week. Time to get serious again.

I hope your spring is off to a good start, and that your spring cleaning doesn’t get too crazy. Let’s hope none of our bills get out of hand this month, and we get to save a little mad money for some fun things!!

Love,
Danielle

I agree, there is always something. That is why I always have one of your book to read. Your books have helped me through some tough times; like when my son was being born and all the months in and out of hospitals because of my wife’s difficult pregnancy, I had “The House” to get me through. My love of your books is why I started “Steel Your Heart”, an online blog for any and all fans of your books. I am very proud of this and encourage all fans to visit and take a look around. It is more than just a discussion blog. http://steel-your-heart.blogspot.com/ Thanks for being such a wonderful writer, and no matter what any critic says remember – “Everybody reads Danielle Steel”.

I know what you mean. We are going to have a busy spring/summer. We have a wedding to go to in PA in August. My daughter is expecting her second baby July/Aug, not to mention two other grandbaby’s birthdays in July, a daughter’s birthday in July and my son in August, my hubby’s birthday in Sept. I will also have the baby shower and the wedding shower…whew!!! It will be a busy few months, and this morning the hot water heater decided to go. SO now waiting for the plumber. Last week the muffler on my car went, new windshild wipers and an very much needed oil change. It’s like as soon as spring sprung…so did everything else. But on April 15 I will be wined and dined for that is the only day that I take for myself. It’s my birthday.

Happy Easter to you and all the kids. Hope it has been a fabulous Easter!
Sadly here in South Africa during this time things have been a bit crazy but with God’s help our country will remain united as we truly are the Rainbow Nation.

    Thank you for your blog.
