5/30/17, “The summer begins…”
Hi Everyone,
I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day, and had a long weekend!!!
Memorial Day is when we remember those fallen in combat and war, a serious holiday, but it is also the very beginning of summer. It’s not hot everywhere yet, but the weather is warmer, and for many people it’s their first weekend away, to mark the beginning of summer. Every year we scrubbed and cleaned and painted and organized our country house for the summer, and I helped my children do that two weeks ago. It’s fun to get everything ready for the summer. I spent the weekend writing, but I love knowing that summer is just around the corner and I’ll take some time off soon—not quite yet though. I took a few days off last week to read a book and enjoyed it, but I’m back at work now. So my summer hasn’t quite started yet, but I’m looking forward to it!!
I hope you got to enjoy the three day weekend. Children will be out of school soon, and parents will be busy keeping them entertained all summer, and I hope you’ll be able to take some vacation time this summer, to sleep late, go to the beach, or lie in a hammock and read. What a heavenly thought!!!
I’m looking forward to some downtime this summer, and hope you are too!!! I worked hard writing books all winter!!
I’ve been thinking a lot about the victims of the attack at the concert in Manchester, England. So troubling and so heart breaking to think of young people being targeted for an attack like that, or anyone. So cruel. I hope we see the end of events like that soon. And my thoughts are with the victims, and their families, and the injured who will have a long road to recover. My prayers are with them. This is an unseen war, which explodes periodically, attacking the innocent, in this case, young people, teenagers and children. Our Memorial Day should include them too. May our troubled world come to a place of peace soon.

I have always found a connection with you—-when you lost Nick
I lost Mike–I’ll never forget what you said —-all of the money in the world , best doctors–you couldn’t save him– I couldn’t save
Mikie. It leaves a huge hole in your heart but I hope I’ve helped
others with their loses—I lost my older son Jim –I thought I need
A path to take–I have never asked why as God knows my path and only he can steer me.Jim was like Nick and Mikie—- Now I have four alpha daughters as I refer to them–always know what I should do.
My life would make a wonderful story–I was a princess with a silver spoon –really, married my school sweetheart,never knew he was gay until my 4th child–you would laugh how out of touch I was!!
When he left me for the man of his dreams–I couldn’t believe
all of the lies—his friend was good looking and had wonderful
Taste….he could bake a cake and not one tilt –perfect!!
Oh well, I could go on and on. Met my dream–he adopted all 4
Had we had 2 more–I have an arm of sterling bracelets and love to paint–we have Newfoundland dog Sugar that is always by our feet—oh, it’s 80 degrees and humid– our summer is here!

Justin Bieber has a message of hope:
“It’s not just the people in the audience at Sunday’s One Love Manchester concert that were emotional; some of the performers on stage were, too. And that was true for Bieber, who fought back tears during a short speech after performing acoustic versions of “Love Yourself” and “Cold Water.”
“In a voice choked with emotion, the “Purpose” singer told the audience he wasn’t going to “let go of hope,” before sharing some encouraging words from his faith. “God is good in the midst of the darkness; God is good in the midst of evil. God is in the midst, no matter what is happening in the world. And he loves you, and he’s here for you.”
“The 23-year-old singer’s poignant speech also paid tribute to the victims and families of the terror attack at Ariana Grande’s Manchester, England concert on May 22. “I just want to take this moment to honor the people that were lost, that were taken,” he said. “We love you so much. To the families, we love you so much. Put both hands up to honor those people right now.”
