Dear Danielle ~

Thank you so much for sharing (and explaining) the Haute Couture in Paris. I have a much better understanding of it now! I don't think that I will ever have the privilege of attending a fashion show in Paris, so just being able to read about your trip/experience made me feel as though I've been there.
I know this is kind of late, but Happy New Year! I, too, hope and pray for a better 2010. One wonderful thing has already taken place for me this year - I started writing my book! I have been wanting to write all of my life (I'm 45 yrs old) and I FINALLY started a few days ago. You have been a wonderful inspiration to me for many decades. I guess my biggest fear was failure. I was scared that my book would never be published. I have learned that even if no one is interested in reading it, my number one reason for writing is my LOVE for writing. It's a novel (romance! lol) that is based on a true story (my story) and so far, I have pulled just about every emotion out of myself that I am capable of showing. My husband is 22 years older than me, so I definitely have a lot to say.
I truly hope that you are blessed with a wonderful year, Danielle. I look forward to reading many, many, more of your novels in the future. I also think your blog is wonderful!
Take care,
Michelle

Hi,

I am an ardent fan of yours, and have been reading your books since many years! I am 28 years old Indian girl and just got married this Dec. I have a book shelf stocked with your books.I always want to meet you sometimes and feel your aura! But reading your blogs/ about you in your website is almost like talking to you. I really respect and admire you for your strength and warmth, not to mention your immense talent. I love writing myself, and written few articles/ stories.
I am a fashion lover myself and during my trips to Europe, I totally fell in love with that place. Missed going to Paris...will make it soon.

Love

It is wonderful to be able to experience art. I would have framed the Balenciaga I, too, wish we could all dress more often in formal, but, I fear we have become a bit of a lazy society in that respect.

Valentines is coming up and I'd like to invite you to stop by and peek in next week. I will have many wonderful writers guest blogging throughout the week and giving their take on the day. It's sure to bring a smile -- chuckle.

Dear Danielle,
I've certainly heard about these fashion shows,
but really had no idea of what the background
was, and the way you explained it all, was
quite interesting, even though it's way out
of my league! It was really fun to read that, and after your description, I can imagine your
disappointment in the way it has all changed.
It seems to be only a fraction of what it used to be! Anyway, just finished Southern Lights
2 days ago, and I really liked it! Lorraine

Danielle,

Reading your blog today reminded me of one of your earlier novels, To Love Again (which I just revisited recently). With all the changes in the industry, it made me wonder how Isabella di San Gregorio would handle the waning importance (or interest) of haute couture. Would her son, Alessandro, by now an adult, run the house as his parents had once imagined? Would it still exist?

Although I know you prefer to tell new stories rather than revisit old ones, your article today made me sad for those characters and wonder how they would have adjusted to today's economy. Would Alessandro remember the way the House of San Gregorio used to be? Would he change the direction of the business? And where would his heart lead him if the house had to completely close down?

Thanks for sharing your insights into this world you obviously love so much and are so passionate about. I find it fascinating and intriguing, and like you, I hope this art form never completely dies.

Warmly,

Jathan

Fascinating-thanks for sharing and explaining.
Understand now why they are so expensive, very labor intensive -assume the fitting alterations are by hand as well.
